Painting the New West:
Myth, Extraction, and Identity in the Black Hills
This body of work explores the landscapes, mythology, and social issues of the Northern Black Hills, which are relevant across the American West.
The Black Hills are unceded lands of the Oceti Sakowin. The legacy of extraction that I investigate is a key factor in the ongoing treaty violations and injustices experienced by the Lakota people.
